Retirement of RCAP Solutions’ Board Member, Kenneth D. Reid, CAE

RCAP Solutions extends its sincere gratitude to Kenneth D. Reid, CAE, as he retires from the RCAP Solutions Board of Directors after more than five years of dedicated service.
Ken joined the RCAP Solutions Board of Directors in January 2021, at a pivotal moment for the organization, and quickly became a vocal, engaged, and highly effective leader. Serving as Board Treasurer, he provided steady financial oversight and trusted counsel during the challenges of the COVID‑19 pandemic and other periods of significant organizational transition.

His deep knowledge of the water sector, combined with his generosity of time and counsel, made a lasting difference for our organization, our staff, and the communities we serve.”
A consistent champion of RCAP Solutions’ mission, Ken was particularly passionate about advancing affordable housing initiatives and strengthening water and wastewater systems in rural and underserved communities. Known for pairing deep expertise with a warm sense of humor, he helped foster a collegial, thoughtful, and productive board culture, bringing levity and perspective even to the most complex discussions.
“Ken has that rare ability to combine deep expertise with genuine warmth and humor,” noted Tracey Weeden, Chair of the of RCAP Solutions Board of Directors. “He asked the tough questions, kept us focused on what mattered most, and always made room for a laugh. His steady presence and good humor set a tone that benefited the entire board, and we are deeply grateful for the legacy he leaves.”
Ken’s professional career spans four decades of leadership in the water sector. He served as Chief Executive Officer of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) from 1981 to 2019 and held numerous national and international leadership roles, including service on the American Society of Association (ASAE) Executives Board of Directors, where he was named to the inaugural class of ASAE Future Leaders and honored with ASAE’s prestigious Key Award.
True to his lifelong commitment to service, Ken enjoyed active involvement in his local community, serving as a board member of the Rappahannock County Food Pantry, Treasurer of Rapp at Home, an organization established to assist residents in aging at home, and an appointed member of the Rappahannock County Water and Sewer Authority.
