Overview of operator challenges with seasonal systems and large buildings, whether they are independent or from larger municipal systems. In this course, we will explore the concerns related to stagnant water in the plumbing of large buildings, such as hospitals, hotels, and schools, as well as in seasonal plumbing, including camps and other settings. This training will focus on the most recent information from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to manage Legionella outbreaks and to reduce Lead exposure. The final section of the training will focus on coliform control and sampling. Improper coliform sample collection remains a common cause of false-positive results, necessitating repeated sampling. This process not only consumes additional time, effort, and resources but also risks unnecessary MCL violations and subsequent corrective actions. The US Environmental Protection Agency provides this workshop funding and has been approved by NHDES for 3 TCHs for water system operators.
