Exciting News! Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program

We are so excited to share that RCAP Solutions has been selected to be a part of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program, which is designed to make it easy for customers to contribute to their local community while supporting the environment.

For the month of September, each time a $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at the Hannaford located at 21 Timpany Blvd, Gardner, MA 01440, $1 will be donated to RCAP Solutions. This is a great way to raise awareness, support the environment and fundraise for our cause.

Let’s get started! We can begin by spreading the news to our friends and family. Call, send emails, and post on social media. The more people who learn about the program and purchase the Community Bag during the month of September, the more money we will raise.

Gone to the Birds Art Preview “Joy”

We are so proud to present the very first birdhouse donated to the Gone to the Birds Gala and Art Auction!

“Joy” Created by Sheila Flathers, Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Artist Statement:

“Last fall I found myself with some additional time on my hands. Now that I am retired, I found doing this project gave me somewhat of a new lease on life. I welcomed the time to spend doing what I love most; creating things to make others happy. I selected a church because my sister and I thought it would be unique.”

About the Artwork:

This gorgeous birdhouse is a replica of a small-town church, with amazing detail, right down to the stained glass windows.

“The roof is an old tin quilting pattern that my mother passed down to me. Most of the other materials used were things I had acquired in my many years of crafts and that had just been sitting around for years. The shingled steeple and columns were added by two of my friends (Jason and Jeff) at the local hardware store.”

Sheila is a retired Advertising Executive who spent time in Texas and Kansas before settling in Maine 11 years ago.

The Gone to the Birds Gala and Art Auction will be held on September 18, 2014 at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in celebration of RCAP Solutions 45th Anniversary.

Your Donation will help to support people like Brittany Hill, who strive to be self sufficient and want to provide a good life for their family.

When entering the Family Self Sufficiency Program two years ago, Brittany Hill was tasked with setting goals, which included paying down her debt and obtaining a degree in the medical field.

Within six months, she had enrolled in school and began taking classes towards a degree in radiology. At the end of 2014, Brittany will have completed her associate’s degree in medical office assistance, and is focused on obtaining a four year degree in radiology.

“I want to keep going so that I can get a good job. I got into debt working as a pharmacy technician. The certification program was expensive and my pay was not enough to cover my living expenses with three children and school loans. Even though I worked full time, I quickly went into debt. I fell behind on my payments and was charged penalties. The debt just kept building and I knew I was in trouble.”

Well over $10,000 in debt when she began the program and eager to restore her credit, Brittany is now budgeting her income and paying off debts. “My credit has gone up 57 points since I began the program. I’m leasing a car  and paying off defaulted school loans and old bills.”

Motivated to complete the goals she has set, Brittany wants to work harder.

“RCAP Solutions has helped me to get on my feet and become independent. My counselor helps me to focus on my goals. I can’t say enough about the amazing support I have received.”

Brittany hopes to purchase a home with the escrow funds she will receive when completing the program.

“I plan to take a home ownership certification course and am motivated to own my own home and car. I’ve lived in apartments that were not safe. I want to be a good example for my girls. I want to give them a good life and give them each a college fund. I don’t want them to struggle like I did.”
