DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n \nEn Puerto Rico solo el 69% de los sistemas de agua comunitarios aplican desinfección para su suplido de agua\, lo cual crea una necesidad de educación sobre este tema. El 55% de los sistemas no toma muestras químicas\, para saber si su tratamiento esta creando subproductos de la desinfección. En este taller se estarán cubriendo tópicos relacionados a: los diferentes métodos de desinfección\, su efectividad\, los productos de la desinfección que se crean al entrar en contacto con la materia orgánica y aspectos regulatorios sobre la regla de la Desinfección y los Subproductos de la Desinfección (DBPR) por sus siglas en inglés. Este taller tiene como propósito capacitar a los administradores de los sistemas comunitarios para que podamos mejorar la calidad de agua y prevenir enfermedades dentro de sus comunidades.

Se ofrecerá mayor atención a pozos sépticos y las unidades aeróbicas de tratamiento (“ATU”) que son los más comunes en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes. Para los participantes con experiencia provee un buen repaso\, y para los que comienzan ahora  les ofrecen una buena base y mejor entendimiento.  En adición\, el adiestramiento ofrecerá recomendaciones en el proceso de adquisición de sistemas nuevos\, incluyendo el proceso\, pasos más frecuentes\, solicitudes de precio\, contratación y selección. SUMMARY:💧 In-Person Training: Small Systems Management (VT)
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n \nThis training supports rural and small water and wastewater systems in addressing their unique challenges\, and in more effectively providing sustainable services to their communities. During the workshop participants are introduced to ten key management areas and then asked to conduct a short self-assessment of their operations in relation to the management areas. Participants identify management improvement opportunities at their systems based on the assessment. The workshop provides an opportunity for participants to share experiences from their systems to better understand how to implement improvements and have a basis for working with staff and community members to operate more effectively. Participants are also introduced to a compendium of resources that could help them implement the improvements identified during the assessment.
